Professors Jochen Ditterich and Zhaodan Kong Receive NSF Grant (Neural and Cognitive Systems)
Please join us in congratulating professors Jochen Ditterich, PI and Zhaodan Kong, Co-PI for their most recent NSF grant award, titled "Identification and control of neural cognitive systems". The $995,777 grant is for a three-year project that will lay the foundation for interfacing technology with neural cognitive systems.
This interdisciplinary project will be a collaboration between a neuroscientist and an engineer to establish a framework for deriving a model or mathematical description of a neural cognitive system directly from neural activity. It will further develop strategies for moving the cognitive system into a desired target state through the application of electrical microstimulation, with the intent to allow for correction of disease-related maladaptive states.
