Research
The Center for Neuroengineering & Medicine scientists conduct research at the frontiers of neuroscience, engineering, and medicine that will support the physical and societal wellbeing of the broadest possible segment of society. Using the example of the healthcare space only, the need for solutions is enormous: one third of the population worldwide is affected by mental or neurological disorders across their lifespan [Global Health Estimates 2015: Disease Burden by Cause, Age, Sex, By Country and By Region, 2000-2015. World Health Organization, 2016].
The center's research thrusts are:
- Thrust 1: Neurotechnology, AI, and Computational Tools
- Thrust 2: Cognitive Neuroengineering
- Thrust 3: Prosthetics and Human-Machine Interfaces
- Thrust 4: Human Performance and Rehabilitation
