Bio
Greg's research focuses on developing an in vitro microfluidic model of the brain-gut axis. The gut is said to be the body's second brain, however a lot is not known about how these two organs communicate, as well as the possible transmission of disease between the two. Engineering such a device requires a multidisciplinary approach, leveraging knowledge and techniques from multiple fields: biology, engineering, medicine, as well as microfabrication. The successful development of such a device would allow researchers to have a tool to model the progression of diseases from your gut to brain.
