Abstract

The newly initiated UC Davis Center for Neuroengineering & Medicine (NE&M) promotes neurological health and extends human capacity, through research, stakeholder engagement, and education into discovery and translation of systems that interface with the brain and the body, to benefit society. The goal of the center is to repair, restore, and augment human capacity. UC Davis is one of few comprehensive universities in the nation that provides excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations, as it houses a College of Engineering, School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, Neuroscience programs (including the Neuroscience Graduate Program, the Center for Neuroscience, the Center for Mind & Brain, and the M.I.N.D. Institute), as well as a National Primate Research Center (one of only seven centers supported by NIH nationwide).

Over the next several years, we aim to leverage and expand UC Davis’ world class resources across campus, to advance a number of core research areas within Neuroengineering. In this talk, we will describe the goals, history, and opportunities of the newly established center.
