Bio
Dr. Zhou’s research focuses on the neural and physiological mechanisms underlying consciousness, cognition, and perception under anesthesia and sleep. Using multimodal monitoring—including EEG, hemodynamic, and other physiological signals—he studies how anesthesia modulates brain connectivity, signal complexity, and systemic homeostasis. His current work aims to develop quantitative biomarkers for brain and body states that can enhance intraoperative monitoring and improve postoperative cognitive and functional outcomes. He also maintains broader interests in pain and analgesia, cerebral ischemia, neurocritical care, and the integration of computational modeling in anesthesiology research.
