Bio

I am an associate professor in the Department of Communication and the Cognitive Science Program at the University of California Davis. I am the principal investigator in the Cognitive Communication Science Lab, a reearcher in the Computational Communication Research Lab, an affiliated faculty member at the Center for Mind and Brain, and an affiliated faculty member in the Designated Emphasis in Computational Social Science. I am the former Chair of the International Communication Association Communication Science and Biology interest group, and I am currently an Associate Editor at the Journal of Communication. 

I study motivational influences on attitudes and behavior, particularly as they relate to cognitive control and decision making. I research these questions using a variety of methodological techniques including neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG), computational modeling, and lab-based experimentation.
