Position Title
Assistant Professor
- Department of Neurological Surgery
My research focuses on developing next-generation neural interface technologies and precision neurorehabilitation approaches to better understand and treat neurological disorders. At UC Davis, I am establishing the Calvert Neuroengineering Science (CNS) Lab in the Department of Neurological Surgery, where we integrate engineering, neuroscience, and medicine to advance neuromodulation techniques to improve motor and sensory function.
Our work centers on creating adaptive, closed-loop stimulation systems that respond in real time to neural activity, with potential applications in neurological disorders such as spinal cord injury and stroke. We also investigate the underlying neurophysiology of how stimulation alters function, using electrophysiology, biomechanics, and translational studies to guide more precise and personalized interventions.
In addition to advancing research, I am committed to training students and postdoctoral fellows in neuroengineering, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and translating discoveries into technologies that improve patient care and quality of life.
